My mother used to do the Mithila Paintings. When I was young, she taught me Mithila Paintings for the first time. I also took training in different places like the Municipality office, Chief District Office, Biratnagar, Rajbiraj, Siraha, and Kathmandu. When I joined JWDC, my paintings received greater attention and recognition.
I am a 48-year-old woman living with my family in Kuwa-12, Janakpur. I have four kids. My husband is unemployed, so I sell milk and work at the Janakpur Development Center to help support the family.

For the past 30 years, I have worked in JWDC’s painting department. I can paint Lord Ram, Sita, Shiva Parvati, Ganesh, Krishna Radha, villagers going about their everyday lives, farming, consuming food, and animals such as cows, buffalos, goats, and many others. Among them all, I enjoy painting villages and their way of life. I can paint on both paper and clothing.

My paintings have won prizes of Rs. 11000 from America and Rs. 5000 from Siraha. I have also gotten money from a Saudi Arabian journalist who was fascinated by my paintings. My paintings were to be shown in various nations, including the United States, England, and Germany. I feel very lucky to have gotten these achievements in life through Mithila Paintings. I am very thankful to JWDC for all these opportunities in my life. I will continue my journey of Mithila Painting throughout my life.
