My community does not allow girls to travel alone, and there was no school in the nearby village. As a result, I was able to complete my secondary education. I got married at the age of seventeen. When I was very young, my sister-in-law taught me to paint.

I used to make a living by painting Mithila art posters, but I had to leave due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My father-in-law is now caring for my family. My name is Sunita Sharma, and I live in Sukar Bazar, Jankpur, with my joint family.
I used to work as a painter in a private company, but it was forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This resulted in my unemployment, and I began to care for my family and children without working. I recently took part in a JWDC training program and painted a poster.
For over ten years, I was a Mithila artist. I used to draw outlines and borders in Mithila’s artwork. I had no formal training, but I learned by looking at other people’s paintings. I’d like to encourage everyone else to learn about the importance of Mithila art. If someone wants to learn Mithila art, I ask that everyone help and motivate them.
